This week started slightly unstructured. My children were sick last week, and of course I end up with it last. I had to miss SBL on Tuesday due to the flu that resulted in some kind of chest infection. I didn't want to be sneezing and coughing all over the kids at school.
On Wednesday our classes were changed, we got 2 new classes each week until the rest of this semester.
Its interesting to start learning new names and faces again, but not as challenging as I initially thought. Its a nice feeling to be known by most of the students within the school. I still address the teachers by their surnames, even in the staffroom as we still do not know some of their names, even some surnames. This makes for interesting conversation starters.
I was given a focus child for this class for our next assignments (at our school we get given 2 focus children with the idea that it will benefit us in the long term). My student is a lovely girl, is above average in reading so this could possibly be a bit of a challenge in regards to my assignments, I will soon see. The teacher I am observing has great ideas and plans for his literature tasks which I have stored in this teaching and learning rich brain of mine, I hope to make learning very engaging and fun.
The students learned to do narrative writing, and to add detail to their writing. To open their imaginations and get them thinking he read a story to them first, it was "would you rather". They really enjoyed this as it was a fiction book and let their imaginations explore.
Unfortunately it was raining in the morning so the netball co-ordinator canceled training afterschool which by lunchtime the sun shone bright. We had our first game on Saturday, the team lost but they played really well, I look forward to sharing what I know and helping them to learn more skills for the sport.
