WEEK 4: 18 & 19 March

This week we spoke and brainstormed about key competencies (KC) and professionalism. Vision and what this entails. We spoke of Teaching as Inquiry, and the process of this cycle.

I got to do my follow up PE lesson plan as part of Teaching as Inquiry, and with a candidate teacher peer observing and taking notes for reflection. We also had a digital officer film us so we can watch it at a later date. I decided to redo my lesson plan from last week, which was kicking, however I mixed up my guided discovery games and stations. I put a lot of planning into this lesson after reflecting from last weeks lesson plan. I was very pleased at the result. All my learners successfully mastered the skill I was teaching, and they are now ready for the next phase of learning, which will be dribbling.

I was fortunate enough to observe in the classroom I observed in the week before, this was awesome because I got to really connect with the students in that class and allowed me to remember their names, which was an asset when working with them.

I loved the idea of the talking tins in this room. They are these small devices that the students individually read to. There are groups, and talking tins take 2 groups per day, everyone else has different activities. These are all mixed up daily. The talking tins record for 1 minute. The children can listen to themselves and alter it/redo it if they make mistakes. I watched some children do this and found it was a great activity. They then have to put this when completed, with the book they read from, on the bookshelf for the teacher to go through with during mat time in front of the class, before lunch. The students really enjoy this.
